This system, as shown from decades of data, is very effective at stopping non-citizens from registering and voting in federal elections. Further, from a common-sense perspective, there’s little to gain for an undocumented immigrant who theoretically wants to vote in a presidential election.

CNN —Republican National Committee members have received a three-page memo from Chairman Michael Whatley announcing and explaining various aspects of the RNC’s merger with the Trump campaign. “As is tradition and governed by applicable law, the RNC is merging operations with the Trump campaign. The memo also announces the hires Whatley has made, including a slate of new lawyers who will focus on election fraud claims. Whatley’s memo also said the RNC is planning to keep its community centers and the Bank Your Vote program. Whatley also said the RNC has completed a joint fundraising agreement with the Trump campaign and has brought in a data liaison to work with other Republican committees and state parties.

CNN —A jury has found David DePape guilty on two counts in the violent attack on Paul Pelosi, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, last year in the couple’s San Francisco home. Then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ultimately factored the attack into her decision to step down from her leadership post. DePape recalled that he was focused on Nancy Pelosi and that her husband, Paul, was not on his list of targets. He later came to in a pool of blood after being violently struck in the head following a struggle with DePape, Pelosi said. A state case against DePape that includes charges of attempted murder, burglary and assault is expected to go to trial later this month.

CNN —Jim McGreevey, the former New Jersey governor who publicly acknowledged he was gay and admitted to an affair before stepping down nearly 20 years ago, announced Thursday he will campaign for mayor of Jersey City in 2025. But I also think, God willing, that I can give something back,” McGreevey said Thursday at an event kicking off his campaign. McGreevey, a 66-year-old Democrat, was elected in 2001 as New Jersey governor. In a campaign video, McGreevey, who served as mayor of Woodbridge Township before becoming governor, asked people to give him a second chance.
